Steve Rich, NewSat’s Regional Head for Africa, took part in Aitec Africa’s 4th Broadcast, Film and Media Africa Conference in Nairobi, held from July 10-11 2012.

Mr Steve Rich joined fellow speakers from SES and Eutelsat in a session called, “Broadcasting: The impact of new satellite technologies”, where he presented about the concept of channel distribution. The African broadcasting industry has faced limited growth because of cost of maintaining much needed infrastructure. Mr. Rich’s presentation on channel distribution highlighted its cost-effectiveness, and how broadcasters in the continent could easily afford it, thus making rum for more robust growth in the industry.
The African regional head also discussed how NewSat’s upcoming Ka-band satellites - the Jabiru Satellite Program - is set to impact the broadcasting industry, as it covers the North and East African regions, aside from the Middle East and South East Asia.
